Why was the Northwestern-Illinois game in Chicago's Wrigley Field chosen to play there?!?
Why didn't they play on an existing regulation football field instead going through all the trouble and expense of converting a baseball stadium with the troubling safety concerns?!
They played the game at Wrigley Field because there were several games that were being played at baseball stadiums to promote "a nostalgic time" when college football games were played in baseball stadiums. The reason they played half field was because the end of one of the end zones was 2 feet from a brick wall and it became a safety concern. This became an issue when the NCAA investigated the field AFTER they agreed to play the game there.
