Actress Zoe Saldana and Fashion Designer Max Azria Host Fundraising Event For Non-Profit Organization H.E.L.P. to support children of Malawi, Africa
HELP held their 2nd annual fundraising event for the children of Malawi on November 11th at the BCBG & Max Azria flagship store in New York City. Actress Zoe Saldana hosted the “Shop for a Cause” event alongside Lubov Azria and HELP Executive Director Jillian Wolstein. The event showcased pieces from the new Max Azria collection, including a HELP Malawi t-shirt created by the iconic fashion designer. Jewelry from the Panthera line was also featured as part of the evening’s available items for purchase. Event proceeds went directly to fund the construction of the Nandumbo Healthcare Center in Malawi, which will provide aid to 60,000 people.
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed African dance performances, sipped on eco-friendly cocktails provided by event sponsors VeeV and Smartwater, and indulged in an array of hors d’oeuvres. Guests in attendance included: Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley; actor/actresses Lindsey Price, Joy Bryant, and Beverly Todd, and Eric Balfour.
The atmosphere of the event was as beautiful as the company. Framed photographs of the children of Malawi hung delicately on the walls, reminding guests of reason they all gathered together that evening. The captivating images evoked the resilient spirit of the people of Malawi, the very thing that inspired Jillian to start HELP.
Max and Lubov Azria have been strong supporters of HELP from the onset. Their generous contributions have enabled HELP to provide the children of Malawi with the education and healthcare facilities and programs that they so rightly deserve. The Max Azria partnership has also led to an increased awareness of HELP’s mission, as the designer offers the HELP Malawi t-shirt that debuted at the event on his online store.
