The fifties were good for the team. With players like, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Pierre Pilote, and Ted Lindsay the team was bound to perform well. In 1960s, Blackhawks twice made it to the finals of Stanley Cup, but lost each time. In 1962, they lost to Toronto Maple Leafs and in 1965, they lost to the Habs. In 1971, they again reached the finals only to be defeated.
Though the team had a steady performance in the 80s and 90s, they did not win the Stanley Cup. In 1992, they again reached the Stanley Cup finals after a gap of 19 years. However, they have consistently done well in the playoffs.
However, this cannot be said about the 2006-2007 season. However, GM Dale Tallon is working hard to turn things around. Tallon has brought in Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Sergei Samsonov, Yanic Perreault and Andrei Zyuzin to energize the team.
