Billy Talent Tickets - Three Albums Deep, They Tour Home

With the Olympics behind them, Canada will welcome Streetsville, Ontario natives Billy Talent to the stage as they open up March 10 in Victoria, British Columbia and close later this month. The 19-city jaunt is set to finish March 28 in Toronto, with stops in Dawson Creek, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, London and others, with the additional potential for a Vancouver date.

The group is currently supporting Billy Talent III, the third eponymous release that began with the debut set in 2003 and continued with their 2006 sophomore release. The group's current album was released last summer and was produced by AC/DC's Brendan O'Brien. The recent March tour isn't the only time Billy Talent will be spotlighted on stage this year, as the Canadian group recently added several dates to a special summer jaunt that catches them in Germany in late June and late August. Though brief, the outings lead many fans to assume there will be more to come (as they hit the Hurricane Festival, Southside Festival, Highfield Festival and Area 4 Festival).

For the Juno Award-winning group, the outing remains necessary as they mix another round of performances in promotion of what bassist Jonathan Gallant hailed "the best piece of work we've ever made" to UpVenue.com. "It's great, it's big, it's heavy, it's more of a rock record than the last two. We're excited," he added when talking to the music website last summer, just days before the official July 2009 release.

Though the group hasn't found crossover success to the States, that doesn't mean that they aren't international stars; their sophomore album even debuted at number one in Germany (to equate the number one in Canada). Billy Talent became huge when the first eponymous album appeared, as they easily followed it with the second, which went three-times platinum and sold out the 20,000 Toronto Air Canada Centre.

Together for nearly two decades, the group – vocalist Ben Kowalewicz, guitarist Ian D'Sa, bassist Gallant and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk – spent many nights in their small town just dreaming of the day they'd become huge rock stars. "We got a rough shake in the beginning," D'Sa said on the website. "And then, I think, people started really understanding our band."

The group was originally deemed Pezz when the quartet formed in between high school classes. Later as Billy Talent, they self released Watoosh! and Try Honesty as they saw a strong local following. When they signed a demo deal with EMI they knew they had made it, and worked with producer David Brown for their September 2003 debut on Atlantic. Performing in a series of promotion festivals like Lollapalooza and opening for the Buzzcocks, they found a larger following as they picked up a Juno Award and re-released Watoosh! Next came several more festival dates as they returned to the studio for the second major label release, adding a Dusseldorf, Germany live performance DVD 666 Live to their repertoire.
