Ncaa Tournament Tickets - Potential One Seeds
March is here, which means one thing to college basketball fans: NCAA Tournament tickets are on the way. As teams get set for their conference tournaments and ultimately the big dance, we've finally got a pretty good idea of which programs have the best chance to land the four number one seeds in the tournament. Here is a look at the four teams with the best shot.
Syracuse Orange: As of March 3rd, the Orange are the number one team in all the land, and have the inside track on earning the top overall seed in the tourney. This team has been quite the surprise this season, as not many people expected them to be this good after losing key cogs like Jonny Flynn and Paul Harris. The regular rotation doesn't even include a Top 50 recruit. A huge lift to this team has come from small forward Wesley Johnson. Johnson transferred from Iowa State two years ago and sat out the 2008-09 season per NCAA rules. He's been fantastic this year. Johnson is averaging 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks per game. His versatility makes him a weapon on both ends of the floor. He and guard Andy Rautins have a good chance of leading this team to the Final Four this season.
Kansas Jayhawks: The Jayhawks came into the season ranked number one and held that distinction for much of the season. Both Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich are holdovers from the program's national title team of two years ago, which should really help them once they reach the tourney. It's hard to see them falling in the Big 12 Tournament, and winning the Big 12 would all but assure them a top seed in one of the four regions of the NCAA Tournament. This team has the potential to win it all, as long as it can get consistent production out of Collins, Aldrich and freshman two-guard Xavier Henry.
Kentucky Wildcats: The Wildcats might have the two most naturally talented players in the nation in freshmen John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins. Both players have been magnificent in what is likely to be their lone collegiate season. The duo also has a solid supporting cast with underrated players like Patrick Patterson and Eric Bledsoe. While they could very well be the most talented team in the country, the Wildcats don't exactly bring it every night. They're likely to be a number one seed if they win the SEC Tournament, but will they be consistent enough to go the distance in the big dance?
Duke Blue Devils: While it's widely assumed that the three aforementioned teams will earn a top seed, the fourth one seed still appears to be up for grabs. While a team like Kansas State could steal it if they took down Kansas in the Big 12 Tourney, the Blue Devils are the most likely team to find themselves with the top position in a region later this month. I'm still not sold on them as a potential Final Four team, though, as Coach K's boys have faltered early in the tournament in recent years. If Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler or Nolan Smith has a bad game, it's going to be extremely difficult for the Dukies to take down a quality tournament opponent.
