General Motors Place Event Tickets - Playoff Hockey Is On The Horizon
The NHL playoffs are right around the corner, and Vancouver hockey fans are readily awaiting the chance to land <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/general-motors-place-event-tickets/">General Motors Place event tickets</a> for postseason play this April. Hockey is the national sport of Canada, and everyone wants to get into the arena for playoff games. As of March 26th, the Canucks are yet to clinch a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but it would take a major collapse for them to find themselves on the outside looking in once the postseason begins.
Vancouver is in prime position to take home the Northwest Division crown, as they're five points ahead of second place Colorado. The Canucks have played very well at home this season, amassing a 27-8-2 record to date. They've been no slouches on the road, either, going 18-17-2 away from their home ice thus far. Though they boast a winning record both at home and on the road, the disparity between the two marks is pretty significant, which makes earning home-ice advantage in the postseason that much more important.
The Canucks are in line to earn the third seed in the Western Conference, which would give them home-ice advantage in the first round. They'll face the sixth seed in the conference, which is currently held by the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings are led by stud center Anze Kopitar, who leads the team in pretty much every major offensive category. Los Angeles also has a talented defenseman that frequently gets involved on offense in Drew Doughty. These two players must be accounted for at all times by teams that face the Kings.
Another team that could land in the sixth slot in the conference is the Canucks' biggest competitor in the division, the rival Colorado Avalanche. Colorado is currently just one game back of Los Angeles, and will be looking to Paul Stastny to push them into the sixth spot. With the talented Chris Stewart at right wing, this team boasts a formidable attack on goal. The Canucks know the Avalanche well, though, and should be prepared to stop them in the event the two teams face off in the postseason.
Two other squads that the Canucks could end up facing in the first round are the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings. Nashville currently sits in the fourth slot in the conference but doesn't have much of a lead on the teams below them. This is a well-rounded team that will be depending on the foursome of Steve Sullivan, Martin Erat, Patric Hornqvist and Jason Arnott to earn home-ice in the first round. As for the Red Wings, they'd be the last team in the playoffs if the regular season ended today. Sporting a four-point lead on Calgary for the final playoff spot, they're hoping to improve their postseason position behind the play of Henrik Zetterberg.
San Jose and Chicago, the only two teams currently slotted ahead of Vancouver in the conference, have already clinched playoff spots and are going to be extremely difficult to take down if the Canucks have to face them in subsequent rounds. Still, the team can't look past their first-round matchup, whichever of the aforementioned teams they may play against.
