Nba Playoff Tickets - Contenders In East At A Premium
Despite the rumors that the Eastern Conference was catching up to the West, the Western Conference has once again asserted its dominance in the league. Though the eighth seed in the West will boast a winning percentage higher than 60%, it appears that the eighth seed in the East once again will reach the playoffs without winning half of their games. Due to the general lack of depth in the East, there seem to be only a few true contenders to reach and win the NBA Finals. Even with only a couple teams seeming to have a legitimate shot at winning the East, <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/nba-playoff-tickets/">NBA playoff tickets</a> are still sure to sell quickly due to a bevy of intriguing potential opening-round matchups.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Contender. Sporting the best player in the league in LeBron James, the Cavs have the best team that they have had since King James was drafted by Cleveland. Antawn Jamison is a perfect complement to James – one who can score on his own but can also delegate to James. Jamison's presence takes some pressure off Mo Williams, who is a very strong third scoring option but has struggled at times having to be LeBron's go-to second scorer. Williams still is capable of going on streaks and knocking down the threes that James feeds to him seemingly all game.
The Cavs did lose Shaquille O'Neal for a while, but they have also gotten Zydrunas Ilgauskas back after he was waived by the Wizards. When O'Neal comes back sometime early in the playoffs, the Cavs should be able to at least slow down Dwight Howard. Jamison is also a great defensive matchup for Rashard Lewis, who was a nightmare for the Magic last year in the Eastern Conference Finals. Delonte West is also a nice scorer off the bench and J.J. Hickson has come on as a strong role player. The Cavs are the real deal and will be a very tough out no matter who they end up playing.
Boston Celtics: Pretender. This is the first season since bringing over Kevin Garnett from the Timberwolves that the Celtics don't appear to have it in them for a title run. Garnett still doesn't look the same after knee troubles early in the season and Ray Allen continues to decline, with his three-point percentage and points per game sliding from a season ago even with more scoring opportunities due to Garnett's absence. Pierce is still a great player, though not elite as he may have been a couple seasons ago, and Rajon Rondo is quickly becoming the Celtics' best player. Rasheed Wallace has also been a big disappointment, and signing the aging Michael Finley isn't nearly enough to compete with the deep Cavs and Magic lineups.
Orlando Magic: Contender. The other major contender certainly is the Magic, led by Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis. But the Magic also added a legitimate scorer in Vince Carter, who has come on down the stretch and has proven capable of handling some of the scoring load if the first two options for the Magic have off games. Jameer Nelson can still get the job done at point guard and J.J. Redick continues to improve as a shooter off the bench. Even backup center Marcin Gortat is much better than most people realize and will help keep Howard rested throughout the playoffs.
Atlanta Hawks: Pretender. The Hawks are a nice story but still appear to be a season away, though they may never get their crack at a title because they will likely lose Joe Johnson at the end of the season. Even with an impressive season, the Hawks can get upset in the first round by either the red hot Miami Heat or the still underrated Milwaukee Bucks.
Other teams to look out for: The Milwaukee Bucks may be in a good position to win an opening round series against either the aging Celtics or the Hawks, though it's hard to imagine them going much further. The Bobcats or Heat would also be a tough matchup for the Celtics, who may not be able to match either team's youth and athleticism.
