Stone Temple Pilots Tickets - an Almost Acoustic Christmas

2008 has been one monumental year for the life and career of the legendary Scott Weiland, and ever since the vocalist split from Velvet Revolver this spring, he has been tearing through the media as a rejoined piece of the award-winning rock band Stone Temple Pilots. Most recently, Weiland and STP showed their reunited fervor by performing at Los Angeles' Gibson Amphitheatre at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas concert. Jamming alongside rockers like Offspring, Rise Against and Staind, the Stone Temple Pilots tore up the stage in L.A. as part of the concert's first night of entertainment, proving their mainstay status in the hard rock realm.

Everyone with Stone Temple Pilots tickets rocked out to STP classics like "Big Empty," "Interstate Love Song" and "Vasoline" at this weekend's two-day Almost Acoustic Christmas concert in Los Angeles, praising the long-awaited performance by one of the most influential rock bands of the decade. This year's performance at the concert marks Weiland's first appearance in the KROQ show since 2004, when he took the stage alongside his then-band Velvet Revolver.

Although Weiland and the Stone Temple Pilots have a history of ups and downs, this year's appearance at the Almost Acoustic Christmas concert means one more round of musical domination for this legendary rock band. STP started their reign in the rock realm in 1992, when the quartet formed as a grunge/punk-influenced band and started creating raucous tunes that propelled their debut album Core to the top of the rock charts, selling more than three million copies and even winning a Grammy Award in the band's first year of inception. The Stone Temple Pilots flew to superstar status overnight, and the band's sophomore release Purple also debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard charts in 1994.

Despite a blowout music career in the mid-'90s, STP took a breather in 1995 when the band's frontman Weiland suffered from a heroin addiction, next spending time in and out of federal prisons for drug possession charges. By 1996, Weiland and the Stone Temple Pilots were back and better than ever, releasing the album Tiny Music...Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop, but Weiland's relapse the following year put a damper on the band's success. By the late '90s, Weiland had spun off on his own solo career, briefly reuniting with STP before landing in jail once again with drug charges.

In the early 2000s, a sober Weiland and the Stone Temple Pilots once again reemerged on the music scene, releasing 2001's Shangri-La Dee Da and 2003's Thank You greatest-hits package before going on hiatus once again. Weiland joined the ex-Guns N' Roses-driven hard rock band Velvet Revolver in 2004, gaining a monumental following the releases of 2004's Contraband and 2007's Libertad before the vocalist exited the band, going back to the Stone Temple Pilots in the spring of 2008. Since STP's recent rejuvenation, the band has been touring relentlessly.
