Phish Tickets - Phish Gears Up For Massive Summer Road Trip
Last summer, Phish phans rejoiced when the legendary jam band returned to the road, and Rolling Stone recently reported that Trey Anastasio & Co. are poised to follow suit this summer, too. Phish will embark on a 29-date tour beginning with a June 11 show in Chicago. Phish's upcoming road trip will include multiple-night stands in major cities like Berkley, Calif., where the band will perform three back-to-back gigs at the Greek Theatre starting on Aug. 5. Phish also has a two-night run in Telluride, Colo. at Telluride Town Park lined up among other multi-nights stands.
Phish announced plans for their summer tour on March 22, weeks after bassist Mike Gordon hinted to Rolling Stone, "It's looking like [a tour] is in the talks. We knew we wanted to wait until summer to do something." Phish will stop in U.S. cites like Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Hershey, Pa.; Portsmouth, Va.; Hartford, Conn.; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Mansfield, Mass.; Camden, N.J.; Columbia, Md.; Charlotte, N.C.; Alpharetta, Ga.; Berkeley, Calif.; Telluride, Colo.; Noblesville, Ind.; East Troy, Mich.; Wantagh, N.Y. and more. Although Phish hasn't been on tour recently, the jam band did perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on March 15. Paying tribute to 2010 inductees Genesis, Phish performed renditions of the prog-rock giants' "No Reply At All" and "Watcher of the Skies" at New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Along with Genesis, the 2010 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees included Jimmy Cliff, the Hollies, the Stooges, David Geffen, ABBA, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Jesse Stone, Mort Shuman and Otis Blackwell.
Phish frontman Trey Anastasio said while inducting Genesis, "Every musical rule and boundary was questioned and broken. It's impossible to overstate what impact this band and musical philosophy had on me as a young musician. I'm forever in their debt." Anastasio also praised the band for being "rebellious, restless and constantly striving for something more than the obvious," reported the New York Times.
Phish has plans to release a 3-D version of their 2009 Halloween festival this April to get fans excited about their summer tour—as if they need it! Titled Phish3D, the concert flick will arrive in select theatres next month. Phish's Festival 8 was held at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif.—the site of the Coachella Music Festival and the country music festival Stagecoach—over Halloween weekend (Oct. 20, 31 and Nov. 1). Phish performed a whopping eight sets during over the holiday weekend, including a special Acoustic Set on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 1).
The Vermont-bred band performed the Rolling Stones' classic album Exile On Main Street in its entirety on the second day of the three-day music event. Delivering a performance of another band's album is a tradition during Phish's Halloween music spectaculars, and in past years the band's "musical costuming" has seen them perform Genesis' Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, Radiohead's Kid A, MGMT's Oracular Spectacular, Prince's Purple Rain, King Crimson's Lark Tongues in Aspic, David Bowie's Hunky Dory and Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland.
