Five Things a Las Vegas Chef Will See in a Night

Five Things a Las Vegas Chef Will See in a Night

Las Vegas chefs do more than just create exquisite menus and nightly specials. They work in an environment that is exciting, fast-paced, and sometimes loud. The Las Vegas culinary scene is unlike any other. Here are five things chefs are sure to see in Las Vegas.

#1 - Popular Vegas Cuisine

While known for its sprawling buffets, the restaurants here offer more than steaks and salad. In recent years, the most popular cuisines in Las Vegas include Japanese, French, Italian, Mexican, and of course, American. Everything from seafood to hibachi can be found in the hotel/casino restaurants and the independent restaurants throughout the city.

#2 - Celebrities and Fighters

The entertainment options in Las Vegas truly are limitless. If casinos aren’t your scene, and you’ve eaten all you can handle, buy tickets to any number of celebrity performances or professional boxing matches held in Las Vegas nightly. Or, if you’d rather sit and people watch, you’re likely to see a celebrity cozy up to the bar right next to you. Jay Leno, Bette Midler, and David Copperfield all frequently perform in Las Vegas.

#3 - Big Winners

There are more than 1,700 gambling places in Las Vegas[1]—including those casinos in the older downtown area and then the casinos in the more modern “Strip.” Not every Las Vegas visitor gambles; many visitors come for the food and the shows. But of those that do gamble, most will be seen on the slots with fewer playing video poker, blackjack, or craps.

#4 - People from All Over the World

Las Vegas is a popular destination for many overseas travellers. At any given moment, individuals from different countries may be bellying up to the blackjack table or sitting down for a cocktail at one of Las Vegas’ clubs. Close to three million visitors land in Sin City every month of the year, 15 percent of whom are from foreign nations[2].

#5 - A Festive Spirit

Vegas is more than casinos and shows. This is a spot for revellers to celebrate events from birthdays to bachelorette parties to even weddings (more than 300 weddings a day on average). Many restaurants in Las Vegas are accustomed to serving large groups and parties for every meal.

Few cities offer the variety of cuisine and clientele that Las Vegas does. For a chef or other food service professional, Sin City is as diverse as you’ll find. There’s no better place to work.
