They Say Ohio Is "Mother of Presidents"
"Mother of Presidents" - is the nick name of Ohio, as it comes second only after Virginia that provided USA, with amicably elected Presidents.
Ohio was initially explored by French in 1699, but it was annexed by the British after the French and Indian wars. Ohio has witnessed many wars in the late 18th century. It was only after a treaty that the state got its boundaries and constitution in 1803. Ohio got admitted to US on 1 March, 1803.
Its central location played a significant role during the civil war because of Ohio River. It was through this river that most of the troops and their supplies went through it. Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is the place where Hopewell culture is still preserved. It is open from 8:30am to 5 pm. It remains closed during the Christmas holidays and Mondays and Tuesday during December, January and February.
It displays many hiking trails and a visitor center. The home of the 20th President of USA accommodating his large family, James A. Garfield National Historical Park was dedicated to the President after his assassination on 19 September 1881. After four years his wife also added a library. It opens from 10am to 5pm daily and on Sundays from noon to 5pm.
Hayes Presidential Center is located in Freemont and exhibits things that belonged to the 19th President. It has the gates that belonged to the White House during his tenure. Related to the famous book "Uncle Tom's Cabin," Harriet Beecher Stowe Museum is the place from where thousands of slaves passed from Rankin House to freedom. It opens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm.
The National Road /Zane Grey Museum pays tribute to the man who flamed the first national highway (State Route 40) and his great-grandson Zane Grey who wrote many popular western books. He was the most successful author during his time.
William Howard Taft National Historical Park tells you everything about the 27th President and 10th Chief Justice of USA. His early childhood and his life during his teens is displayed here daily from 10am to 4 pm, except December 25, January 1 and Thanksgiving day.
Fallen Timbers is a small park having the monuments of soldiers and natives who died in a battle with Indians on 20 August 1894. This area was partially destroyed by a storm, so the name came as Falling Timbers. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Cleveland, Ohio. In its Hall of Fame it has huge three screens with video monitors having thousands of Rock and Roll songs.
