On April 25, Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family will stop by the Sprint Center during the production's national tour. The Madea play hit the road early in 2010, following Perry's last stage effort Madea Goes to Jail. Get giggly as you follow the onstage antics of the beloved matriarchal character in this new production. Announcing the upcoming show, Perry wrote on his website: "It's been five years since I've been on the road and the timing just happened to fall right into place. I needed to get away from Hollywood for a second…clear my head. There is no better way to do that than to come out and see your faces and be reminded of where this all started." Perry is also responsible for several comedic films like Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea Goes to Jail and I Can Do Bad All by Myself.
You won't want to be leaving Kansas City anytime soon because on April 26 Nickelback will be appearing at the Sprint Center along with musical guests Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown and Sick Puppies. The Canadian post-grunge rock band is currently on their Dark Horse Tour, playing tunes like "Gotta Be Somebody" and "Never Gonna Be Alone." Nickelback is joined onstage by Breaking Benjamin, who are promoting their 2009 release Dear Agony, as well as Shinedown and Sick Puppies.
The Sprint Center isn't the only venue likely to attract theater patrons and music fans this April. The Starlight Theatre will be hosting rock guitarist Jeff Beck on April 28, and you'll want to get your tickets early for this event. The concert in Kansas City will likely coincide with the release of Beck's upcoming studio album called Emotion & Commotion. Rolling Stone magazine has noted that the new record will include a 64-piece orchestra on several of the tracks. Kansas City fans might be lucky enough to get an earful of some of the new tunes!
Mark your calendars for this April and if you don't live in Kansas City, Mo., it may be time to take a trip in springtime. With Tyler Perry, Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Sick Puppies and Jeff Beck all making appearances in this Midwestern city, you'll certainly want to grab front row seats!
