Oris For Bob Dylan

Oris has been known to have an interest in the arts from their collections of driving, diving, and aviation timepieces. But Oris goes beyond what other watchmakers do, they think outside of the box, like when they featured Robert Mapplethorpe in an advertising piece.

Oris has created a series of watches paying tribute to the great talents in jazz like Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Louis Armstrong.

But who would have expected them to pay tribute to Bob Dylan; you can go on their website and listen to Subterranean Homesick Blues from a 1965 video. Not what you would expect from a Swiss watch manufacturer. Their limited edition of 3,000 watches is a rectangular stainless steel watch with the date at 6 o'clock.

Dylan is a multitalented artist whose talent has spanned decades. He influenced an entire generation with his poetic lyrics when the world was changing; he was the voice of the times. And as such he deserves to be remembered in a beautiful timepiece designed in his honor.

Dylan is now an international star in the folk and rock music world with his distinctive voice. He is a living legend as well as an accomplished painter, author, musician, poet and singer-songwriter.

Simplicity and elegance describe this watch and yet it has an unexpected twist of style. It comes with a plain black leather strap with a silver buckle and a matte finish dial with tonal gray and black accents emulating the sun. It is accented with stainless steel numbers and luminescent hands.

The watch comes in a very creative package included is a Hohner Marine Band harmonica, Dylan's instrument of choice, just in case you want to play along with the video. Or you can play along with the CD of greatest hits that is also included.

The watch bears an etched image of Dylan on the case back as well as the limited edition number. The Oris famous small porthole window displays the mechanical movement of the red rotor. His signature is on the dial. A sapphire glass wraps around the watch and has an inner and outer anti-reflective coating.

Featuring automatic winding, 26 jewels, bi-directionally rotating red rotor and is also water resistant to 3 bar (30m, 98 feet). Power reserve is 38 hours.

This watch is a collectable that will increase in value through the years, and while you're waiting for that to happen enjoy wearing it because it's absolutely beautiful.
