Ani Difranco Tickets - Folkster Finds Mainstream With Solo Vision

Finishing up her critically acclaimed Red Letter Year Tour, Ani DiFranco sets her sights on new ideas this spring as she finishes up her final tour dates in April.  Jaunting through cities like Montreal, Rochester, Syracuse, Columbus, Charleston, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Lexington, Kansas City and Dallas since early February, DiFranco praises her new album, backed by Todd Sickafoose on bass and Allison Miller on drums.

Though DiFranco revealed that this album, unlike previous ones, unveiled a "very relaxed me" (which she admitted has thus far been absent in much of her music), she's been performing this set live since its release in September 2008. As an added bonus, DiFranco gave fans another treat with the live release Official Bootleg Series, a 19-song performance from Chicago's Auditorium Theatre. New opening act Erin McKeown has taken over to much acclaim after Gaby Moreno left the tour in late February. McKeown is another seductive songstress that gets DiFranco fans in the mood, and she's also a Righteous Babe artist.  Both artists are part-feminist, part-songwriting goddesses as they line up on stages across the country this year.

A longtime activist and performer, DiFranco has released over 20 albums in her veteran career and spent a substantial amount of time promoting those sets. The Buffalo, N.Y. native turned things around when she birthed her first child, and now as baby girl Petah Lucia welcomes her sixth year DiFranco couldn't be more reflective on life. Recording under her own Righteous Babe Records, it was this business move that really stood her apart from the rest.

Doing most things ahead of the times, DiFranco took to living an eco-friendly lifestyle before most knew what organic meant, so when she wanted to produce one of her albums on her own, without an executive breathing down her neck, people stopped and stared. Now more than two decades in the business, DiFranco is something of a legend as a folk artist who can jam equally with pop rockers, country stars, orchestras, jazz poets and rappers.

As a cult artist through the '90s, DiFranco has cultivated an ever-present euphoria that continues to preserve her melodic folk pop genre. DiFranco along with similar acts like Andrew Bird, Brandi Carlile, Steve Earle, Merle Haggard, Paolo Nutini and others honored the Preservation Hall Jazz Band with a compilation album. The musicians traveled to New Orleans to record traditional jazz hits with the group, reported the Salt Lake Tribune, with the album currently available. The French Quarter outfit celebrated has been around since 1961 and has inspired traditionalists everywhere to create a similar sound.

DiFranco's skilled ability comes from years of practice; she picked up the guitar at nine and got her first gig performing Beatles covers in the early '80s. A strong songwriter, DiFranco performed around New York City after collecting several dozen singles. She took to the stage and audiences couldn't help but noticing her, earning her first Righteous Babe album in 1991.
